Lucie and Nicholas’s Christmas wedding at Combe Manor was a magical event, despite the Covid restrictions imposed on the day. The date of 18th December was the last date prior to Christmas Day, where if you caught Covid it meant you would have to self-isolate for Christmas, did mean that the guest list dropped on the day by some 30-40 guests!
However, this did not dampen anyone’s spirits and all who attended enjoyed an unforgettable day.

Getting Married at Combe Manor in Winter

The Pre Wedding Shoot
Ahead of the wedding, I met Lucie and Nicholas in the beautiful grounds of Blenheim Palace, to get to know each other and break the ice before the wedding. I had a great time getting to know them and seeing how they interact in front of the camera, letting their personalities shine through!
The Bridal Prep
I had the pleasure of meeting the bride, her family (who flew in from across the States), and the bridal party prior to their ceremony. It was wonderful seeing everyone come together and share such an important moment while I captured candid shots and traditional keepsakes to remember this special day forever.
The Boys…
Nicholas is in the Military and along with his Groomsmen wore full military wear which was beautifully captured by my second shooter… Who was dedicated to capturing the boys’ preparations, his family, and pre-ceremony photographs, this enabled me to give both the bride and groom equal attention without having to rush through any of their pre-ceremony photos.
The Ceremony
The stunning 12th Century church of St Swithuns provided the perfect backdrop for the wedding ceremony. What’s more, its proximity to the Manor allowed us some truly special opportunities to capture photographs as guests and wedding party members walked to and from both venues.
The couple left the church to a guard of military honour performed by Nicholas’s colleagues.
Drinks and CanapÉs Reception
Lucie and Nicholas ensured that their Wedding Breakfast was a memorable event for everyone by having the speeches during the Drinks and Canapés reception. The speeches were delivered from a stage, taking turns at sharing meaningful words about the couple. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, allowing everyone in attendance to make lasting memories.
The wedding breakfast was a buffet.
The Evening
The atmosphere was full of joy and merriment, drinks were flowing as people let loose and put on a show on the dance floor.
The band had everyone mesmerized with their sound check, playing an electrifying rendition of Sex on Fire. It brought the house down and just about everyone joined the party – even though they hadn’t started yet!
As I was chatting to the lead singer, who inquired when I’d be departing. He then proceeded to surprise us all with a hilarious male vs female dance-off. It quickly evolved into the longest conga line I had ever seen, and it was both funny and amazing!
The day was memorable from start to finish and certainly the perfect end to the Wedding Season of 2021.
